(in no particular order)
1. ERGObaby Carrier (with infant insert)
Allows you to carry your baby on your front or on your back, can use up to toddler ages (or size) and has a comfortable fit that does not hurt your back.
2. Cloud b Sleep Sheep
This is not just another adorable stuffed animal for the nursery! It provides four soothing nature sounds that help your baby with what all moms and dads want them to do- sleep! There is also a travel version that is smaller and less expensive.
3. The First Year's Infant to Toddler Tub with Sling
That's right! Get excited about a bathtub! It is great for those beginning sponge baths and continues to be useful and grow with your child.
4. The Boppy
And no this is not a pool toy, Ken! The Boppy is a C-shaped pillow designed to provide a comfortable position for nursing or bottle feeding, but has many other uses as your baby grows. It can be used for propping up your babies after feeding, tummy time, and eventually sitting up when they get to that developmental stage. It's a great product to have throughout the entire first year!
5. Fisher Price Cradle 'N Swing
(My Little Snugabunny)
Swings are wonderful, and allow your little one to feel comforted and
entertained while you regain the ability to use your hands. You may find
that your baby has a directional preference, so having a swing like this Fisher Price one that will rock side to side, as well as front to back, may come in handy down the road. It also plugs directly into the wall while many don't which definitely saves money on batteries!
6. Medela Pump In Style On the Go Tote
Yes I am going there! If you are planning on breastfeeding this will come in handy whether you are planning on returning back to work or not. It allows others the opportunity to feed your child if you are going to be away without switching over to formula, and gives you the opportunity to store and save milk while keeping on the same schedule. Plus you can use an old sports bra as a cheap way to make it hands free.
7. Pack 'N Play
Any kind will work really just as long as you have one. This comes in handy if you are planning on doing any kind of traveling or overnight stays at friends or family member's houses. It comes equipped with a play yard and a place for your baby to get a restful and safe night sleep. You can also use it around the house as you so desire. The one I found was a discontinued Classic Pooh made by Graco.
8. Swaddle Blankets
Ingredients for the perfect baby burrito! Perfect not only swaddling (and snuggling!) but can also be used as a lightweight carseat cover for cool weather or germ protection, nursing cover, burp cloth, etc. I love aden + anais, but any brand will prove very useful!
9. NoseFrida: The Snotsucker
Just trust me on this one.
10. Video Monitor a.k.a. Baby Cam
(we don't own a brand- just something Chris is currently assembling)
This is what happens when you marry a computer geek. And yes we do have your standard baby monitor, but this will give all of us (and I mean Chris) a piece of mind for when the baby is "sleeping" in the nursery. (If he did this for the puppies, you know this was coming for his first born.)
