I had a lot of fun decorating Nicholas' room before (
and after!) his birth. I went with a classic Pooh theme which highlights not only my passion for reading and books, but also my love for greys and neutral color tones, much to my hubby's chagrin. When we were getting the nursery set up we had many debates about the general layout, wall coloring, and which pieces of furniture should remain and which should be taken out. When we first bought the house, I was really pushing for the room to be a grey tone, but we finally settled on a more medium tone that was a nice hybrid of blue and green. Chris' idea, ever the engineer, was to have the baby room function as a nursery/office complete with a desk and a laptop in the corner. I nixed that idea! Lastly, our major discussion was what to do with the two giant Ikea book cases we had purchased to hold my library. Those wound up staying, but I did a major book cleanse to allow for the bottom shelving to house my giant collection of children's books from 3 months + all the way the way up to Harry Potter and the leather bound collection of the Chronicles of Narnia. The following pictures show the result of much negotiation, furniture assembling, and online hunting for a Classic Pooh collection that has been discontinued (
what was I thinking?!). We both are in love with the result, and do hereby agree that the theme and furniture arrangement shall not be changed for the next child because we are too tired and exhausted to start the process over. Sorry #2!

The library after downsizing. This comes from years of teaching and being an avid reader myself.
Sweet dreams, little one.
Your nursery is adorable ... #2 hopefully won't arrive for several more years. Much love ♥♥♥
